Christmas Carol Dances

The word Carol originated in France and spread throughout Western Europe during the medieval era. The word Carol originally meant: "Dance with Singing".

Christmas Carol Dance

The original Carol dances were Circle and Line dances. The original Circle dance choreographies were simple. As time went on the choreographies became complicated. The original Circle dances were called. "Farenodole". Later they were called Branle, Estampie and Ducitia. During Christmas celebrations later in life, the dances popular in the particular era were danced to the Christmas songs. Some of the dances moved to northeast America with the Colonial people.

Historical Christmas Carol songs and dances are fun, elegant and good for celebration gatherings. The Carol dances are solo and group, good for people of all ages.

The two Christmas cd's I chose for the dances on my DVD are lovely. An Old English Christmas with Greenwood Tree by: Bill Cagley & Stu Janis and Loves Pure Light by Debra Wendells Cross, Barbara Chapman, and Robert Cross. Their cds are available from www.CDBaby.com

I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
